Christmas Trees, Yuletide Stumps

'Tis the season for all political junkies to meet under the mistletoe: An unprecedented number of January presidential primaries means a month of political stumping. Searches for "election polls" have bundled up nearly 250%.
Our last Buzz check had Fred Thompson in the Search lead. The past 30 days have shown that people are still getting to know the candidates, thanks in part to celebrities both faded and potent stumping for their preferred future leader. For an issues lowdown to pair with our Buzz holiday political revue, check out the AP chart or this summary.

Notes on the top six, and a few more...
Ron Paul continues to be a Web star. Gender equity among his supporters, though, may be another story: Males conduct 7 out of 10 of searches. Obama and Clinton, on the other hand, attract pretty much a 50-50 split in male-female interest.
As for the rest of the field, here's the second tier clamoring to get their message heard above jingling bells.
- John Edwards (Dem)
- Fred Thompson (Rep)
- John McCain (Rep)
- Dennis Kucinich (Dem)
- Joe Biden (Dem)
- Bill Richardson (Dem)
- Duncan Hunter (Rep)
- Mike Gravel (Dem)
- Tom Tancredo (Rep)
- Chris Dodd (Rep)
- Alan Keyes (Rep)
