Concertgoers Prepare to Rock
Two of the biggest concerts around, Bonnaroo and South by Southwest, recently announced their lineups. Eager fans stampeded the Search box for the scoop.
Bonnaroo, an annual music festival held in rural Tennessee, will be headlined by Metallica and Pearl Jam. Searches on both bands rocked upwards, but neither act garnered as much interest as Led Zeppelin, the group many folks were hoping would headline. Queries on the legendry rockers surged 47% among, we’re assuming, disappointed fans. Fortunately, there is some consolation for those hoping to hear “Stairway to Heaven” twang across the hills of Tennessee. An all-girl tribute band, Lez Zeppelin, is on the Bonnaroo bill.
Interest in rival concert South by Southwest wasn’t quite as impressive as Bonnaroo’s, but the show’s various bands did make some noise in Search. Lookups on Moby skipped to a 13% gain and we expect searches on Dolly Parton, who is also on the bill, are bound to bust out. Call us ageist, but we expected most of Ms. Parton’s searches to come from middle-aged fans. Much to our surprise, more than 43% of the crooner’s queries came from fans 17 and under. Dolly, baby, you still got it.
