Has ‘Cloverfield’ Jumped the Shark?

The moment the first "Cloverfield" trailer hit theaters, buzz on the film roared to life. But that was months ago, and searchers are a fickle sort. Is the flick, which opens next week, still making noise in Search?

In a word, absolutely. Some folks (us included) thought "Cloverfield" might suffer from "Snakes on a Plane" fatigue due to too much pre-release hype. Just the opposite is true. Fans have continued to search on the J.J. Abrams film with increasing intensity. "Cloverfield" is among our top 500 terms and related searches on "cloverfield spoilers," "cloverfield clues," and "what is cloverfield" are also scaring up monster-sized numbers.

Those searches serve as a testament to the film's ability to keep fans caring... and guessing. So far, all we know of the plot is that a creature that has little respect for the Statue of Liberty goes wild in the Big Apple. Judging by the impressive searches, the less we know, the bigger the buzz.
